So...Will MARVEL STUDIOS Own Your 2017?

Shit, they already put a hefty down payment on mine! The MCU is getting juicy!

Sidenote: Yes, I've been MIA...nobody cares anyway, I know. Okay, back to business.

So, let's start at the beginning with IRON FIST.

Extra dope to see the last defender make his entrance. Binge watched this in 2 sittings.

Next up we have GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2.

I heard director James Gunn tried some fun/new/awesome tricks with filming and editing. No words...

Then, my personal favorite, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING.

Tom Holland is the perfect Spider-Man. And RDJ/Tony's making an appearance?! You know I'm there for that! #teamironman

Then, as hinted to before, we get THE DEFENDERS.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist...this is gonna be an Avengers-like event. Netflix might break.

And finally, we get a big ole fat juicy one with THOR: RAGNOROK

"YEEEESSSS!!! We know each other! He's a friend from work!" The Thor/Hulk dynamic (along with other factors) will make this hilarious! Plus, it's coming out near my birthday...so there's also that.

Also, let's not forget what AGENTS OF SHIELD is continuing to bring weekly. And what THE INHUMANS will bring in September. The MCU is winning right now, both in the theater, on tv and via Netflix. #itsallconnected

I also want to give a special mention to LOGAN and LEGION for what they've done for 20th Century Fox/FX. Quality productions.

Ok, now it's time to go squat. I'm gonna try to be more active on here from now on. Maybe. You don't care. Anyway...
Peace, Rex

Alright, Last Time I'm Talking About This...

So, we all saw what happened last night. I'm still trying to make sense of it. And I've been racking my brain all day to find a way to express my anger. Then it hit me: I'm more hurt than anything.

To say this election was different from other elections in the past is an understatement. This wasn't only about differences in political opinion. People can get over political differences. They argue, debate, then go back to living their lives and loving one another. This has proven to be a completely different case. This election was divisive, more divisive than the election in 2008. I remember the word "nigger" being tossed around like a football in the backyard. Even then things were mostly about politics. There was just a segment of ignorant people (a lot from this southern region of the country) who weren't ready to see a black president, and that's okay. We learn and we move on.  However, this is far from that on so many different levels, different levels of hate. One semi-mutual level I can speak on in particular: race relations.

Okay, I know what you're thinking. "Rex, you grew up in Pawleys Island, the chillest place in South Carolina! How and when did you ever have to deal with racism?!" Trust me, I did get pretty lucky to grow up in such a laid back town. Things could've been much worse. However, it's still in SC and it's still the south. I remember being the only kid who tested into the BEACH program (for academically gifted kids) in elementary school who had their scores tested 2 extra times. I remember being 1 of 3 kids to get a 100% on a math exam in middle school and being the only student accused of cheating or being the beneficiary of an error. I remember my high school history teacher complaining about certain people catching breaks based on what they looked like (I was the only black kid in the class). I remember overhearing a girlfriend's dad call me a nigger while they were having a family meeting before I took her on a date. I remember parents of acquaintances saying "why can't he find black friends?" I remember getting jumped by 2 rednecks in Five Points. I understand racism, as minor as those offenses may seem to you.

So, when I hear a man call a race of people "rapists" and "drug traffickers" while proposing to build a wall to keep "bad hombres" out, when I hear a man say we should ban an entire race of people from entering our country, when I hear a man only refer to my race in terms of crime in inner cities, when I hear a man say that "law and order" is the solution to unarmed black people being unjustly killed by law enforcement, when I hear a man say "Look at my African American," when I hear a man promoting violence against his protesters (most often of a non-white race), when I see non-white supporters of his get kicked out of his rallies, when a man is endorsed by David Duke and KKK because they "share the same values and beliefs" and doesn't immediately distance himself from these people...

By the way, this doesn't include the things he's said about women, the LGBT community, and handicapped, all segments of people I am extremely close to.

Look, if you're able to compartmentalize all the hatred and only focus on the issues, that's cool. I can't because I've lived in a different reality. And, don't get me wrong, I get the concerns about the opposing candidate. But, damn. It just kind of hurts that nearly half of America is fine with such hate and separation leading the greatest country in the world. And seeing people I'm close to attempt to rationalize this?! it's just a little disheartening.

All I know is this: we are where we are. And, quite frankly, I hope this guy can prove me and half of the nation wrong. It's just kind of hard to have confidence in a person like him. However, we ALL need to come together, love one another, and MOVE FORWARD! This could be a blessing in disguise. An ignorant orange tiny-handed disguise (sorry, I had to haha). Don't let this change whatever kindness you have in your being. We can only make change together.

With that being said, my birthday is tomorrow. You know what to do.
Peace
Rex

Saosin - The Silver String

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

After 7 Years (see what I did there?!) SAOSIN has released a new single from their upcoming album Along the Shadow, the first release with original singer, Anthony Green! "The Silver String" kind of feels like a bridge between the heaviness from their previous LPs (with Cove Reber) and what Circa Survive has been doing recently, Anthony's "main" band, the band he originally quit SAOSIN to create (I say "main" because the man never stops making music...like ever). I feel like the lyrics throw little hints at the first departure of Anthony, the more recent departures of Cove and Justin, and coming back together to make amends. All in all, I'm just excited that the band that heavily influenced my writing style for so long is back at it!

Man, this shit makes me want to start playing shows again (I'm looking at you...yes, you! Josh, Jackson, Mathias, and our non-existent singer). Below is the cover art for the album (that nigga flexible as hell!) and the video for "The Silver String." Enjoy!

Captain America: Civil War - #TeamIronMan Promos, Official Poster, and Trailer 2

Well, we all know I'm #TeamIronMan. I mean, the roster is STACKED! In my supreme opinion, could easily take #TeamCap, especially with the web-slinging secret weapon. You've got Iron Man (my spirit animal, Tony Stark), Black Panther (T'Challa), Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff), War Machine (James Rhodes), The Fucking Vision (well...The Vision), and Spider-Man (Peter Parker, not given a solo poster).

Also, check out the official cinematic poster and the dope ass trailer (SPIDEY!!!)

Enjoy!

So, the next big screen chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on its way, and, let's be real, this shit is about to be EPIC!!! Today Marvel released the #TeamCap promo posters (posted below) and the roster is solid. Captain America (Steve Rogers), The Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes), Falcon (Sam Wilson), Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) and Ant-Man (Scott Lang)...pretty stacked. But let's just wait and see how RIDICULOUS #TeamIronMan is gonna be.

In the meantime, enjoy!

Marvel's Daredevil - Season 2

Bruh...

So, we all know Daredevil season 1 was a-fucking-mazing! Dark, brutal, grimy...all the things everything else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe hadn't seen. Then, Jessica Jones added its brilliance. Now, Daredevil season 2 is around the corner and it looks wild as hell! I mean, so far we have Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Jessica Jones, we've seen Luke Cage (his show is on the way later this year), and now you give us The Punisher and Elektra?! And have officially announced the actor who'll be Iron Fist. Straight up, Marvel and the decision's they've made by bringing us a connected entity that spans film, television and Netflix with the MCU...I mean, I'm on board for whatever they have planned for the next decade.

And they've said Avengers: Infinity War may consist of 68 characters...

Any other studio could tease that and the world would collectively laugh and think that's just too much. But have they led us astray thus far?! I mean...shit, I'm excited for what's to come!

Anyway, enjoy the season 2 trailers and gifts and whatnot.

Saosin LP3 Teaser

Holy shitballs! Finally! SAOSIN has a brand new record coming out in the Spring and I couldn't be more excited! Anthony Green (the GOAT) is back. Sad Justin is gone tho. Excited nonetheless! This band has influenced my writing style and taste of music in so many ways, no matter what the lineup was. I've been waiting since 09 for some new jams from them...the wait is nearly over. And from the sounds of this teaser, I may spring a semi. Nah, fuck that! Full on rod status!

Enjoy.
